Vedic School
In 1980, H.H. Pedda Jeeyar Swamiji attained Siddhi and H.H. Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji took over the spiritual lineage. In 1981, Swamiji became the full-fledged head and Acharya of Srimad Ubhaya Vedantha Acharya Peetam, Nadigaddapalem. Sri Swamiji went to Badarinath, the abode of Lord Narayana and did penance, reciting the all-powerful Ashtakshari Maha Manthra. Since then, Sri Swamiji has developed the spiritual activities in a manifold way.
In 1984, Sri Swamiji started the Vedic University, under Jeeyar Educational Trust (JET), which is one of its kinds to establish and propagate the Vedic science. A number of young children are given admission into the university and they are taught the Vedas, the Upanishads and the related Vedangas. Their entire responsibility of board and lodge is borne by the University. The students are imported the knowledge of the Vedas free of cost and when these students become full-fledged Vedic scholars, they are provided with a placement. Further. Students are ensured of a comfortable living and professional security after completing their studies at the Vedic University. This is perhaps a unique schema designed to encourage prospective Vedic scholars and propagate the supreme knowledge.
Under extension programs, a similar school for young children to import the Vedic Agama lore was started at Jaggaiahpet in 1990. The unique feature here is that, in additional to Agama Sastra, a Thathva Sastra college was also started at this place, to teach spiritual courses, to whoever joins, with all facilities and attractive stipend. In order to conduct research into Vedas, Sri Swamiji has launched a Vedic Project by involving great Vedic Scholars in it. As a step in this direction, a computer center was also started by Sri Swamiji to conduct Vedic research.
The Vedic School, founded by His Holiness Sri Swamiji, is producing not only Vedic Scholars but also Vedic Scientists. Along with the text of the Vedas, Practical aspects of Vedic tenets are also taught in this school. His Holiness has been carrying out research to bridge the gap between the Modern Science and Vedic Culture. Sri Swamiji is trying to bring the Modern Scientist and the Vedic Scientist closer, so that human beings can live with peace and happiness by using Nature in the right perspective.
"Sound is the Life of the Vedas". The Vedas are Apaurusheyas or apocalyptic. Emphasis is laid on mastering the Vedic sounds in this school while the text, meaning and practical applications are also taught with equal emphasis.
There are about 50 students in the Vedic school in the different branches of the Vedas. The entire text of the Vedas is memorised without books, thus improving the Dharana Sakthi (knowledge retention capacity). The curriculum of the Vedic school consists of Yoga, Sthothra, Sandhya Vandanam, Vedic Chantings, worshipping of God etc.
In order to see that the Vedic Scholars are not detached from the main stream of society, they are given training in games and sports like cricket ,volleyball, tennis etc.
A Peace March was organised in 1988 from Srikurmam in Srikakulam district to Puri Jagannath in Orissa which was terrorist-infested. These students also conducted a Peace March in the riot-torn state of Punjab in 1989 wherein His Holiness Sri Swamiji participated and made Pada Yathra (journey on foot) throughout the length and breadth of Punjab. During the Peace March these students appealed to the people to live happily and peacefully. Today we are able to see the wonderful results the effect of chanting the Vedic Hymns !!
Establishing an Agama school is a brainchild of Sri Swamiji. The Agama School is a unique institution that imparts knowledge about the establishment and maintenance of temples in accordance with Sri Pancharathragama. The Divine science of selecting a place for the temple, constructing the shrine, Vigraha Prathistta(deifyng the idol ), rituals, maintenance etc., is taught in this school. The chanting of the mathras, procedures for sacrifices, performance of Yagas and Homas for human welfare and good yield of crops etc., are the regular activities of this institution. There are about 50 students in two Residential Agama Schools, one at Jaggaiahpet in Krishna district and the other at Somasila in Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh. The students of these schools, as part of their Project Work, participated in functioning of many temples and also celebrated the consecration of many prestigious temples in India and USA.
These students played a keyrole in conducting the Maha Varuna Yagam performed at Hyderabad in 1988, which brought forth good rains throughout the country. They also performed Sri Maha Vishnu Yagam conducted during 1994 with 1008 Kundas on the divine Thirumala Hills of Andhra Pradesh.
